Since its inception, the SAFI Project has been staffed and operated by volunteers from Kenya, the United States, and the United Kingdom. We are always for looking for like-minded individuals and organizations to join us in our mission of combining environmental conservation, poverty eradication, and social scientific research. While we appreciate any support you can offer, we currently have specific needs with respect to volunteer workers, funding, and organizational partnerships.
Volunteer
We are looking for volunteer workers from both outside and inside Kenya to continue a number of different ongoing project initiatives. Current needs include fundraising and grant writing, research and writing concerning strategies and possibilities for the long-term environmental and economic sustainability of the project, and on the ground project management and implementation assistance. To learn more about these opportunities and to submit an application, please contact Ryan Sheely, the SAFI Project research director.
Donate
We are currently in search of donors to help support the next phases of the SAFI Project, which involve developing the technological and social infrastructure necessary for local recycling initiatives and the implementation of these initiatives. The aim is to utilize private funding sources from both individual and institutional donors to help create the conditions necessary for the long-term financial and environmental sustainability of the project. For more information about specific funding needs and how to help, please contact Lucy Moore, the SAFI Project fundraising coordinator.
Partner
Are you part of an organization that is working on issues concerning the environment and poverty reduction in Kenya? We are looking for other groups to join us in our mobilization and implementation work, both within Laikipia and elsewhere in Kenya. We are especially interested in partnering with organizations that specialize in the technical and business sides of recycling and composting. If you think your group shares our mission, contact Richard Legei, the SAFI Project field coordinator in Kenya.
